The owner of this large detached house on The Manor Drive in Worcester Park called us to explain that his mother had lived in the property until she had died but that she had been a compulsive hoarder. The property was, therefore, full of a huge collection of items and rubbish that he had no hope of clearing himself, so he asked us to clear the property for him. He wanted to be present, so he asked us to carry out the house clearance on a Saturday, which we agreed to do.
Clearance Overview
The owner of this large detached house on The Manor Drive in Worcester Park called us to explain that his mother had lived in the property until she had died but that she had been a compulsive hoarder. The property was therefore full up with a huge collection of items and rubbish that he had no hope of clearing himself, so he asked us to clear the property for him. He wanted to be present, so he asked us to carry out the house clearance on a Saturday, which we agreed to do. We got to work very early, just after 7.00 am, and worked throughout the morning boxing up the collection and storing it away in the vans. There were lots of smaller items: bottles, cans, pens, pots, ornaments, receipts and a whole range of every conceivable item, all stored away and kept in piles on the floor and in the cupboards. There were a lot of books, old newspapers and magazines, which we knew were suitable for recycling, and old pictures, DVDs, photos, CDs, tables, chairs and larger furniture items such as the fridge and washing machine. We removed everything throughout the day and had completely cleared the property by 6.00pm. We then cleaned it throughout and made certain that we got into every corner so that it was left looking immaculate.
Disposal of Contents
As is common with clearances involving compulsive hoarding, we could not reuse many of the things we cleared from the property. However, we made sure that anything that could be recycled was sent to a recycling centre for processing, and in that way, we could significantly reduce the amount of waste caused by the clearance.
