Clearance Requirements
Our client, who lived abroad, asked us to completely clear a 3-bedroom mid-terrace house on Kingswood Road, Fulham, London SW6. The client wished to sell the property, but there was still furniture and household goods in it, and he did not wish to return to the UK to arrange their disposal. He requested that we take certain items to a secure storage company and remove the rest of the contents so that the property could be viewed by prospective purchasers. He requested that we leave the carpets and curtains. He also asked us to clear the garden and cut it back so that the property looked occupied.
Clearance Overview
Because parking is very difficult in the area, and traffic is an issue, we decided to carry out the clearance on a Sunday. We arrived at 7 a.m. and started work immediately. Because the property was terraced, the only access to the back garden was through the house, and a narrow hallway, so we used dust sheets to protect the floor and took special care not to damage the walls. We started immediately clearing the property and removed beds, chairs, tables, rugs, wall units, computers, 2 large flat screen TVs, printers, a broadband router, table lamps, books, bookcases, and other household items. We separated out the items which were being retained, and these were put in a separate vehicle, ready to be delivered to the secure storage premises. The rest we put in another closed van. By 5 p.m. we had completed the house clearance, and delivered the keys in an envelope to our client’s estate agent.
Disposal of Contents
The furniture, although modern, was in very good condition and local charities were pleased to have most of the contents. In this case, nothing went to landfill, which meant that we were again able to achieve our environmental targets.
