Clearance Overview
This house clearance in Woking looked normal from the outside, but inside it was a very different story. A compulsive hoarder had been occupying the house for a number of years and after they had died they had left a vast collection of furniture, books, records and masses of personal papers which required clearing. The house was also difficult to access because it was located close to the road so there was not much space and we had to get permission from the council to park our vehicles.
Clearance Requirements
The aim of the job was to simply clear out all of the furniture and effects and make the property habitable once again. We kept an eye out for any dangerous items and chemicals as these can often be found in the collections of hoarders in rusty containers with risk of leakage and in most cases of hoarding here is always the unknown factor as relatives have no idea of the amount and nature of the contents. The clearance took the entire day and filled two of our trucks completely with an extra 100 bags of paperwork.
Disposal of Contents
Although hardly anything was in a good enough condition to be reused, we were able to recycle a considerable amount of metal glass paper and plastic.. Slightly more than average had to go to waste but this is normal in hoarding cases.
