House Clearance in Wanstead: Case Study 1

As many of our clients have never dealt with probate or used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline a previous house clearance in Wanstead we carried out recently. This gives new clients some understanding of the clearance process and pricing. If you have any probate requirements or looking to have a house clearance in Wanstead or surrounding areas then for free advice without obligation, you can call our valuers London Office on 0208 640 0044.

We also carry out property valuation for probate and house contents valuation for probate purposes in the Wanstead area.

CLEARANCE DATE: 2nd November 2012

PROPERTY LOCATION: Grove Park, Wanstead, London, E11

CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance

PROPERTY TYPE: 5-bedroom house

Clearance Requirements

Our client contacted us to clear this large house on Grove Park in Wanstead, London, after the owner, who was his brother, died a few weeks earlier. He had been through the property and removed anything that he wanted to keep, so he hired us to clear out the rest of the items and remove the carpets.

Clearance Overview

The detached house came with a private driveway so we were able to park our vans near to the front door, which made removing the contents easier. We protected the front door by covering it with plywood, and then we set to work clearing the house. Most of the furniture and effects that we removed were still in a very good condition and were perfectly suitable for reusing. In fact, we also came across a table and chairs that looked valuable, so we checked with our client whether we could sell them to offset the cost of the clearance and he was happy for us to do this. The clearance did not present any difficulties for our team. We worked throughout the day non-stop, moving steadily through the house up to the bedrooms. We removed the final item, a large wardrobe, just before 4.30pm, and then removed the carpets from throughout the property. After giving it a quick clean, it was all ready to hand back to the client.

Disposal of Contents

We managed to sell the table and chairs for a good price at auction, and with this money we were able to reduce the cost of the clearance for our client. We donated a number of items from the clearance to a local jumble sale that was being held a few days later, and we also donated some furniture and books to a nearby charity shop. The things that could not be reused were recycled.

Client Comments

Our client thanked us for being so professional and considerate at a painful time for him. Clearing houses can be very personal for the owners, so we were glad that we could work sensitively and considerately.
