Clearance Requirements
Victoria Avenue is located in Upton Park near to the West Ham football club stadium, and we were called out to clear a large terraced house here in October. Our client was a firm of solicitors acting as executors of the estate for the owner, who currently lived overseas. The owner wanted to sell the property, so we were asked to clear everything that remained inside and to clean it after we had completed the clearance. We were also asked to arrange for the locks to be changed during the clearance.
Clearance Overview
On-street parking was available right outside the house, so we had no problems parking our vans. We got to work straight away, and within a couple of hours we had already managed to clear the entire living room and hallway. We found lots of furniture and effects, consisting of clothing, furniture, books, ornaments and general household goods that had built up over time. In the kitchen we removed all of the white goods, including a microwave and cooker in very good condition. We arranged for the locksmith to arrive at 2.00pm, and he changed the locks on the front and back doors. We finished clearing the property and removed the carpets and underlay, so that the only job that remained was cleaning the house throughout. We took a few hours to clean the house, and made sure that we got into every corner to leave it in an excellent condition.
Disposal of Contents
Nearly everything that we removed from the house was suitable for reusing, so we spent quite a bit of time finding new homes for the items. We sent the books and DVDs to a charity shop to be sold, and we sent all of the furniture to a hostel so that everything could be used again. Anything that was not reusable was recycled to avoid excess waste.
