House Clearance in Upminster: Case Study 1

As many of our clients have never dealt with probate or used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline a previous house clearance in Upminster we carried out recently. This gives new clients some understanding of the clearance process and pricing. If you have any probate requirements or looking to have a house clearance in Upminster or surrounding areas then for free advice without obligation, you can call our valuers London Office on 0208 640 0044.

We also carry out property valuation for probate and house contents valuation for probate purposes in the Upminster area.

CLEARANCE DATE: 27th September 2012

PROPERTY LOCATION: Corbets Tey Road, Upminster, London, RM14

CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance and clean

PROPERTY TYPE: 5-bedroom house

Clearance Requirements

This large detached house was a very fine property owned by our client, who had recently inherited it from his great uncle. He did not want to keep it because he already had a house, but before he could sell it he needed to arrange a clearance. He informed us that there were lots of personal items inside the house that he wanted to sort through at a later date, and as a result he asked us if we could send some selected goods to a storage unit 20 minutes away, which we agreed to do. We also arranged to clean the house following the clearance.

Clearance Overview

The clearance was a straightforward job for us because we are used to working in very challenging conditions. Our client had marked up all of the goods to take to the storage unit, so we separated these out from the other furniture and effects. They mainly consisted of paintings, ornaments, books and smaller items, but there was also an antique desk and a large grandfather clock that he wanted to keep. We then went through the rooms of the house methodically, removing everything that we came across with great care. We removed everything from the kitchen, including the white goods and the items that remained inside the cabinets. We then cleared the living room and bedrooms, packing up the personal effects including clothes and books. During the clearance of the bedrooms we found what appeared to be some old war medals so we handed these over to the client. We finished the clearance at about 4.00pm after we had removed the carpets, and we then began work on the deep clean. We used industrial cleaning equipment throughout the property, and finished the job leaving the house in excellent condition just before 7.00pm.

Disposal of Contents

We transported the clientÕs possessions to the storage unit on the same day that we carried out the clearance. There were also lots of goods that were in a very good condition, so we made sure that we found new homes for these through jumble sales and charity donations. Some things were sent to landfill, but only a very small amount of the total, and the rest went to our recycling centre to minimise waste.
