Clearance Requirements
We were called to clean a large detached house by the estate agent in charge of selling it for the owner. The house contained a large number of artefacts and household effects, and we were asked to remove everything down to the curtains and carpets. The garden was also slightly overgrown, so we also agreed to mow the lawn and cut back a hedge so that it would look more appealing to potential buyers.
Clearance Overview
We started the clearance by removing all of the furniture and effects from the living room and kitchen, consisting of a three-seat sofa, four chairs, a book case, white goods from the kitchen and lots of cups, bowls and glasses. Once we had removed everything from the kitchen and living room, one team began work on the garden while the other team cleared out the upstairs rooms. We filled up a large number of boxes with smaller general household goods and clutter, as well as larger items of furniture including three double beds. The garden team mowed the lawn and cut the hedge back, then separated out the waste into the items that could be composted in the garden and those that we had to remove from the site. We finished the clearance at 6.00pm, and the estate agent returned to give us the all clear.
Disposal of Contents
We managed to dispose of all of the contents without having to send anything to landfill. All of the garden waste was either composted or sent to the local councils green recycling unit. The furniture and many of the effects were mostly donated to a selection of charities, and we managed to recycle anything that was not reusable.
