CLEARANCE DATE: 31st October 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Farwell Road, Sidcup, London, DA14
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance and light clean
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-bedroom house
Clearance Requirements
This large mock tudor house was located in a very quiet road on Farwell Road in Sidcup, London, DA14, near to Foots Cray Meadows. It had four bedrooms and the owner had recently passed away. Our client was a firm of solicitors acting as executors. We were asked to remove everything and to try and sell anything of value to reduce the cost of the clearance. The client also asked us to drain down the central heating system before we left and to carry out a light clean.
Clearance Overview
The house came with a large driveway so we were able to park our vans with no difficulties. We met one of the solicitors who showed us into the house, and we started work immediately. The house was in a very good condition so we made sure that we were very careful removing the items, and for this reason we placed plywood in the porch and around the door to protect it. In the living room we found lots of ornaments that were in a very good condition. Some of these were antiques that the owners had collected over the years. We separate anything that had a resale value to one side so that we could sell it after the clearance. We cleared the property in every room, removing the white goods from the kitchen and all of the furniture from the bedrooms and living room. It took most of the day, following which we drained down the central heating as required and then finished the job by giving the house a light clean throughout.
Disposal of Contents
It is not often that we find so many items that are suitable for selling, but in this case many of the ornaments and antiques that we came across were in an excellent condition. We were able to sell most of these, saving the client a significant amount on the clearance. We also managed to reuse what we could not sell by making donations to some local charities, and most of the remaining items were recycled.
Client Comments
When the solicitor returned to collect the keys he was very impressed with the amount of work that we had been able to carry out in a single day, and he said that he would be in contact when another clearance came up.
