Clearance Requirements
We were instructed to carry out a full clearance of a large detached four-bedroom house in Audley Road, Saffron Walden, CB11. The majority of the contents consisted of modern items of furniture and various household effects. The client asked us to remove the white goods from the kitchen as well as the cooker, and we had to arrange for a Gas Safe engineer to disconnect this. There was also a small shed in the garden that the client asked us to dismantle and move to his new house on the outskirts of Saffron Walden.
Clearance Overview
We arrived at 9am to begin work on the clearance and were able to park in the driveway. We used plywood in the entrance to the property to protect the doorway and the walls, and then began to clear the furniture and effects. Some of the furniture needed to be disassembled to carry it down the stairs, but we reassembled it again before loading it into the van. The Gas Safe engineer arrived in the afternoon to disconnect the cooker, and we also removed all of the white goods. Our team of five people managed to complete the job by 6pm, which included dismantling the shed.
Disposal of Contents
We sold a number of items of furniture through our retail outlet, and this allowed the client to reduce the cost of the clearance. We donated a few items to a charity shop in Saffron Walden, and most of the other items were sent for recycling. A very small quantity of contents that could not be recycled were sent to landfill.
