Clearance Requirements
We received a call from the owner of a semi-detached house on Seaton Gardens in Ruislip, London, HA4. The house had five bedrooms and a large garden, and the client asked us to clear both inside and outside the property because it was going to remain unoccupied for between six months and a year. He also asked us to drain down the central heating and isolate the electrics after we had cleared the property.
Clearance Overview
The driveway outside the house was large enough to fit a number of vehicles, so we were able to park our vans without difficulty. We met our client at the property, and we immediately began work on the clearance.
We found a number of interesting items to remove from the property, including a collection of antique maps, an old billiard table and an old-fashioned typewriter. The client said that we were welcome to sell them if they had any value to offset the cost of the clearance, which we agreed to do.
All of the furniture could be removed without having to be dismantled, and we loaded everything into our vans until the entire property had been cleared. Our garden team also worked in the back garden, removing all of the furniture and cutting back an overgrown hedge to leave it looking tidy.
Following the clearance we carried out a detailed check of the plumbing to make sure that there were no leaks, and then we drained down the central heating and isolated the electrics.
Disposal of Contents
Our dedicated gardening team cleared a lot of green waste from the garden, most of which was placed in compost bins. However, we took some of the remaining items to the green waste section of the local recycling centre. We managed to sell the maps and the billiard table, so this saved the client some money on the clearance. Waste was also minimised because we managed to recycle much of the remaining contents.
