CLEARANCE DATE: 12th June 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Tilehurst Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house and garden clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 3-bedroom house
Clearance Overview
The owner of this detached house which was located just outside the centre of Reading, contacted us to find out whether we carried out garden clearances as well as house clearance. He ideally wanted a firm to clear both his house and garden at the same time, and we were happy to do this so we booked the job in. The garden was quite large, and he warned us that there were some large pieces of debris and furniture scattered around as well as an old motorbike that the previous occupant had been working on and left behind. There were also lots of small things including tools, nails, screws and paintbrushes to clear from the garden shed.
Clearance Requirements
We arrived at 8 a.m. and met the client at the property. We carried out a quick review of the house and garden, and then got to work clearing with one team on the house and the other working in the garden. The house had many accumulated general household goods, but it was in surprisingly good condition so moving around was not a problem. The garden, however, was a different story and there was more to be cleared from the garden than inside the house. We removed all household furniture and effects consisting of furniture, jars, boxes, glass newspapers, 2 ladders, tools and files etc. The other team cleared the garden, removing old tools, tyres, bike frames, bottles, broken furniture and other items. The motorbike was quite heavy so this required a three guys to remove it.
Thankfully it was a dry day !
Disposal of Contents
Many of the items from the garden had to be sent to landfill because they had been affected by the weather and fallen apart over the years. They mainly consisted of junk anyway, with the exception of a few tools. However, many items could also be recycled, including the metal items for scrap. From inside the property there were a number of furniture and household goods that were reusable, so we arranged for these to be donated to two local charities. Everything else was recycled.
Client Comments
The client was really grateful that we could clear both the property and the garden in a single day.
