Clearance Requirements

This large semi-detached house on Upminster Road South in Rainham, RM13, was owned by our client who was preparing to move to Australia. He wanted to leave the property completely empty before he decided what to do with it, but he also had a number of personal items that he wanted to keep and he asked us to transport these to a storage unit in Epping. He also wanted to be present during the clearance and so asked us to work on a Saturday, which we were happy to arrange.

Clearance Overview

The house had its own driveway so we were able to park our vehicles close to the front door, and we began work on the clearance at 8.00am. Our client pointed out the things that he wanted us to transport to the storage unit, and we separated these from the other contents.

We cleared out the living room, hallway and kitchen before midday, and after a quick break for lunch we worked on the upstairs of the property. Nothing proved to be too much of a challenge for our experienced team, and we worked carefully and steadily throughout the day.

Two of the large beds and a large table had to be taken apart carefully in order to remove them from the property, and we then put these back together before loading them into the van.

We finished the clearance at 5.30pm, which was slightly ahead of schedule, and then performed a quick clean throughout the property to leave it in a good condition. After the weekend we delivered the items to the storage unit as requested.

Disposal of Contents

The furniture that could be reused was sent to a local charity shop, which accepted the vast majority as a donation. Anything that they did not want we managed to donate to other people via a selection of websites that make it easy to find new homes for unwanted items rather than throwing them away. The remaining contents was divided into items for landfill and for recycling, and in the end only a few items were sent to landfill to enable us to stick to our strict environmental policy.
