CLEARANCE DATE: 22nd August 2012

PROPERTY LOCATION: Hale Street, Poplar, London, E14

CLEARANCE TYPE: Full flat clearance

PROPERTY TYPE: 3-bedroom flat

Clearance Requirements

Our client was the owner of a flat opposite Poplar Recreation Ground on Hale Street in London, E14. He was planning to travel abroad for a few years and wanted to get rid of all of his possessions and furniture and sell the property, so he asked us to clear it for him. He also asked us to remove all of the carpets from throughout the flat and to take a few of his belongings to a nearby storage unit, which we agreed to do.

Clearance Overview

Parking was available outside the building in which the flat was located, so once we had parked up our vans on the day of the clearance we met the client and then got to work. There were a lot of things to remove from the property, consisting of furniture, a large book collection, clothing, personal effects and general household contents, and we removed everything by carrying it down the stairwell.

One of the challenges was that the stairwell was very small and the building was very busy, so we had to be especially careful not to disturb the other residents and to be especially aware of health and safety procedures to avoid any accidents. This was especially important when it came to the larger items like the fridge and washing machine.

The client had not informed us that he had a gas cooker, and we had to arrange on the day for a Gas Safe engineer to call around to disconnect it. We were able to do this, meaning we could complete the entire clearance in one day.

Despite taking great care with the removal, we worked very quickly and were able to finish the clearance earlier than expected at 4.00pm.

Disposal of Contents

We removed everything from the property in our closed unmarked vans, which we always do to protect the privacy of the client. A lot of the contents was sent to our recycling centre to be processed so that we could minimise waste as much as possible. However, we always try to reuse as much as possible, and for this reason we focused on finding new homes for the furniture and personal effects through donating them to a few local charities.

Client Comments

The client thanked us for our professionalism and for leaving the flat in such a good condition following the clearance.
