Clearance Requirements
Our client for this clearance was an estate agent operating in the Pimlico area of London. They were arranging the sale of a three-bedroom flat on the fourth floor overlooking Warwick Square in Pimlico, SW1V. The previous occupant had passed away and the family had removed all of the personal items that they wanted to keep, so now they required a complete clearance.
One of the specific requirements was that we work as carefully and quietly as possible. Some of the neighbours were very sensitive to disturbances, so we assured the estate agents that we always work as quietly as possible but that some disruption would be inevitable.
Clearance Overview
Parking was available outside the building so we were able to find a space for our van when we arrived at 7.00am. The estate agent handed us the key to the property and within minutes we were removing items.
The flat was a large and airy space, and it was in a very good condition. Following an initial appraisal it was clear that many of the smaller goods had already been removed, leaving mainly large items of furniture and the white goods in the kitchen.
We removed them all carefully and quietly, always aware of keeping disruption to a minimum. We used the stairwell most of the time, and for many items of furniture two or three members of the team had to carry the objects.
During the afternoon a Gas Safe engineer arrived to disconnect the gas cooker, which we then removed. We finished the clearance at 4.00pm and did not receive a single complaint from any of the neighbours.
Disposal of Contents
The white goods from the kitchen and most of the furniture was in a good condition and so could be reused, so we did not want to send any of it to landfill. We donated a few items to a local charity, but for others we had to list the items on a few websites to ensure we could find new homes for them. All of the other contents were recycled.
