Clearance Requirements
Our client contacted us to perform a complete clearance of his three-bedroom flat, which was located above a shop on Peckham High Street, SE15. He had let the flat out to two other people, but they had moved out following a disagreement over rent and there were a lot of effects and furniture left behind that required clearing. He now wanted to sell the flat, so he asked us to remove everything, including the white goods and all the furniture and personal effects, and to carry out a deep clean.
Clearance Overview
We required a permit in order to park outside the building where the flat was located, so we had to apply for one from Southwark Council. Upon being granted the permit, we turned up on the day at 7.30am and started work on the clearance.
The flat was on the third floor so everything had to be carried down the stairs or in the lift. We started by removing the large items of furniture and the white goods from the kitchen, and once all of these had been loaded into the vans we gathered up the smaller personal effects and items and boxed these up.
It took most of the day to completely clear the flat, which included removing the carpets and underlay as well as the curtains. Once it was completely empty, we cleaned it throughout, getting into every corner with our industrial cleaning equipment to ensure that we left it in a very good condition so that the client could put the property on the market.
Disposal of Contents
Most of the furniture was still usable, so using a selection of websites and local charities we managed to donate all of it to avoid sending any of it to landfill. Anything that was not in a good condition was sent to our recycling centre for processing. On this occasion there was nothing in the flat that we could sell to offset the cost of the clearance.
