CLEARANCE DATE: 16th October 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Cannon Hill Lane, Merton, London SW20
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-Bedroom-House
Clearance Requirements
We were instructed to clear a 5 bedroomed 1930’s semi detached property in a suburban area of north Acton. Because the property had been empty for over 6 months, the garden was overgrown, and needed restoring to its original state. The property was to be let once the clearance had been completed, and so we were instructed to fully clean the property and make it ready for viewing by estate agents.
Clearance Overview
On-street parking was available when we arrived at 7am so we could park our vehicles directly outside the front door. We met one of the estate agents and then started work on the clearance immediately. Firstly we put plywood protection around the front door to protect it from any knocks, and then we began to remove the furniture and effects from the living room.
In the kitchen we removed all of the white goods, and a Gas Safe engineer came around just before midday to disconnect the gas cooker so that we could remove it safely. We then removed everything from the bedrooms upstairs and the bathroom, and cleared the entire property by 4pm. Following this we removed the carpets and took down the curtains to leave the property completely empty, and we finished the job by cutting off the water supply and isolating the electrics.
Disposal of Contents
Many of the items of furniture and the general household contents were suitable for reusing, so we arranged to send these to a selection of local charities working in the area so that they could be sold to raise funds. This is always our policy so that we can reduce waste as much as possible. Some of the items could not be reused, but the majority of these were suitable for recycling so we took them to our recycling centre where they were processed.
Client Comments
The estate agent picked up the keys to the property at the end of the day, and was so impressed that he confirmed he would be adding us to the agency’s list of approved contractors for future house clearances.
