Clearance Requirements
Our client for this clearance was the owner of a large four-bedroom flat located above a shop on the busy Marylebone Road in London, NW1. It was located on the second floor and had been inhabited until recently by his elderly aunt who had now passed away. He had removed all of the personal items that he wanted to keep, and now required us to remove the rest of the furniture and general household effects. He specially requested that we donate as many things as we could to a local charity shop that his aunt used to visit on
Clearance Overview
Parking was impossible outside the building because Marylebone Road is incredibly busy, but behind the building we were able to locate a space not too far from the flat. This increased the time it took to complete the clearance because we had to carry the items further, but we still managed to complete the clearance within a single day.
We started in the living room and removed the three-piece suite, a large shelving unit complete with numerous ornaments, some paintings from the wall, a large chest full of books, an oak table and six chairs.
We then moved into the kitchen and removed all of the white goods along with the crockery and utensils that remained. Finally we cleared the bedrooms, and this included dismantling two double beds, which we then reassembled to load into the van.
Disposal of Contents
We asked the client whether he would mind us selling some of the paintings to offset the cost of the clearance because they were in a very good condition, and he was very happy with this arrangement. We donated the rest of the reusable furniture and effects to the nearby charity as instructed, and sent the other items to our recycling centre for processing.
