CLEARANCE DATE: 17th September 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Kirkdale Road, Leytonstone, London, E11
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-Bedroom-House
Clearance Requirements
We were contacted by our client, who in this case was a firm of solicitors, to clear this large semi-detached house on Kirkdale Road in Leytonstone, London, E11. The owner was preparing to sell the property and had labelled a number of items of furniture that he wanted to keep, and we were asked to transport these to a storage unit in Epping.
The entire contents of the property needed to be cleared, including the white goods in the kitchen, the gas cooker and the carpets. We were also asked to isolate the electrics and the water supply following the clearance.
Clearance Overview
There was a small driveway outside the house where we could park up our closed unmarked vehicles. It was a very attractive period property, and an employee at the solicitor’s office met us outside just after 8.30am. We set about clearing the property after we had placed plywood protection around the front door and the hallway to protect it from any damage.
We removed all of the white goods from the kitchen, but left the gas cooker until the afternoon when the Gas Safe engineer stopped by to disconnect it safely. We removed all of the items to transport to the storage unit, which consisted of lots of items of furniture as well as some ornaments and a few paintings. We then removed the rest of the furniture and general effects from the property.
Finally, we removed the carpets and underlay, then cut off the water and electricity supplies before finishing up for the day.
Disposal of Contents
In this case, some of the furniture and goods were in good condition, and we were able to offset their value against the cost of the clearance. Only a very small proportion of the contents were re-cycled.
Our dedicated gardening team took care of the garden and disposed of the waste and much of it was placed in compost bins, although some of it was taken to the local council’s recycling centre and placed with the green waste material
Client Comments
All of the items to keep were sent to the storage unit following the clearance for the owner to sort through at a later date. As for the other furniture and effects, we managed to find a home for all of the furniture that was in a good condition, including tables, chairs and a desk, which were donated to a nearby charity. We also donated a number of DVDs and books that we found during the clearance. Anything that we could not donate was sent to our recycling centre for processing.
