As many of our clients have never dealt with probate or used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline a previous house clearance in Kensington we carried out recently. This gives new clients some understanding of the clearance process and pricing. If you have any probate requirements or looking to have a house clearance in Kensington or surrounding areas then for free advice without obligation, you can call our valuers London Office on 0208 640 0044.

CLEARANCE DATE: 5th October 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Kensington High Street, London, W8
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full flat clearance and security
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-bedroom flat
Clearance Requirements
This fourth-floor flat was located above a shop on the busy High Street in London, W8. The owner called us to arrange to have the whole flat cleared of everything apart from three of the beds, which he wanted to keep. The flat was to remain empty for a year or longer so he asked us to cut off the water supply, isolate the electrics and arrange to have a new lock fitted in the front door.
Clearance Overview
Kensington High Street is a very busy street and there was no parking available for our vehicles, so before we began the clearance we had to arrange for a special permit the local borough Council.
We arrived on the day just after 7.30am and immediately set to work. There were a lot of personal effects and general household contents to remove. Some of this had to be carried out by two or three members of the team because it consisted of large items such as the dining table and freezer, but for the smaller items we boxed these up and removed them separately.
We had to work as discreetly as possible because there were lots of people living in the neighbouring flats, but this is something that we are accustomed to so it was not a problem at all and we worked quickly and quietly throughout the day.
The locksmith arrived during the afternoon to change the locks, and we sorted out the electrics and water supply towards the end of the day. We finished the job with a quick clean of the flat to leave it looking presentable.
Disposal of Contents
We separated out the items that we removed into those things that could be reused, which included most of the furniture, and those that would have to be recycled, which included the old clothing, cardboard boxes, newspapers and glass bottles. We arranged for most of the furniture to be donated to a nearby hostel for homeless people where it was gratefully received.
Client Comments
The client returned a number of times during the day to check on our progress, and each time he confirmed how happy he was that we were working so fast. At the end of the day he checked over the property and said the job had been completed to a better standard than he had expected.
