Clearance Requirements
The owner of this modern semi-detached house on Ley Street in Ilford asked us to perform a complete property clearance and remove all of the furniture and items that remained inside. There were a few antique items of furniture and she enquired whether we could use these to offset the cost of the clearance, so we said we would be happy to sell any if we found them to have any value.
As well as removing the contents from inside the property, there was also an old Corsa in the driveway that had to be disposed of, so we agreed to remove this on the same day that we carried out the clearance.
Clearance Overview
This attractive property was located on a quiet and pleasant street, and although there was a single-yellow line outside the property there was a driveway to park our vehicles, even though it was partly taken up by the Corsa.
The first thing we did when we arrived was to remove the Corsa, and that provided us with more room in which to work. Then we put plywood protection up around the front door and in the hallway and began to remove everything from the property.
We quickly located the antique items of furniture and set these aside, and we then removed everything else from the property. This included the white goods from the kitchen, but the gas cooker was to remain so we did not have to call in a Gas Safe engineer.
We removed the last item from the property at 5pm and the client then checked over the property and gave us the all clear, so all in all it was a very satisfactory clearance.
Disposal of Contents
The car was the trickiest item to dispose of, but we have removed many vehicles during the course of our clearances, and in this case we sent it to a nearby scrap yard where the parts could be reused. We sold the antique furniture at auction and were able to save the client a significant sum on the cost of the clearance, and we managed to find new homes for most of the items. Anything that could not be reused was recycled so that we managed to keep the amount of waste produced to a minimum.
