Clearance Requirements
This five-bedroom house on Beavers Lane in Hounslow, TW4, was owned by our client who was trying to sell the property. He had previously been living inside it and had removed everything that he wanted to keep, but he still had lots of general household contents and a few items of furniture to get rid of.
As well as the items in the house, there was also a large shed in the back garden, which was filled with a number of bottles of various chemicals that he did not know how to dispose of, so this was also a requirement of the clearance. We were also asked to cut off the water supply because the client was aware that the property might remain empty for a few months.
Clearance Overview
After arriving at 8am we started work on the house clearance by removing all of the furniture and general effects from the upstairs and then the downstairs areas. We found a really interesting antique chest in great condition so agreed to sell this to reduce the price of the clearance.
After everything had been removed from inside, one team got to work on the shed while the other team sorted out cutting off the water supply. There were a lot of chemicals contained within the shed, and it was not always clear what they were. To be on the safe side we removed these using all of the correct procedures and arranged for them to be disposed of separately to the other items from the clearance.
We finished work on the clearance by 5pm, and the client returned to the property to inspect it for his approval, which he promptly gave.
Disposal of Contents
We disposed of the chemical products separately following the strict industry guidelines for such products. We then separated the items to be reused from those that were to be recycled, and luckily many of the items of furniture were in a good condition so we arranged for these to go to a range of new homes, which included a number of charities. We then sold the antique chest and reduced the cost of the clearance accordingly.
