Clearance Requirements
Our client for this house clearance on Tottenham Lane in Hornsey, London, N8, was a firm of solicitors who we have worked with twice before. They were acting as the executors of the estate for the owner of the property.
The property, a four-bedroom terraced house, was to be placed on the market as soon as possible, so everything had to be removed. Our client also asked us to remove the fitted kitchen so that new cabinets could be installed. Following the clearance we were also asked to provide the entire house with a deep clean.
Clearance Overview
There was parking available on the street outside the property despite it being a busy street, so we were able to park our vehicles when we arrived at 7.30am. The first job was to remove everything from the kitchen, including the fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, all of which were still in working order. We then dismantled all of the cabinets so that the space was left empty and ready for the refit.
We then removed all of the other furniture and general household effects from the property, loading them into our closed unmarked van as we went. The clearance was completed by 4pm, and then we started work on cleaning the property. This took a further three hours so we completed the job at 7pm, and then one of the solicitors arrived to check over everything and confirmed that the job had been completed to a high standard.
Disposal of Contents
Many of the items of furniture remained in a good condition so we decided that the best thing for these was to reuse them. We had actually donated a number of items to a charity in the area a few months previously following another house clearance, so we contacted them again and they said that they would be happy to take anything that we had. A few things were sent for recycling, such as the plastic bottles and cardboard boxes that we found during the clearance, but nothing was sent to landfill.
