Clearance Requirements
Our client for this clearance was the owner of a second-floor flat in a large block of flats on Camden Road in Holloway, London. He had been letting it out to tenants for a number of years, but the previous tenants had left it in less-than-perfect condition and he now needed to clear all of the household clutter and debris that they had left behind before he could let it out again. He also asked us to give the two-bedroom flat a deep clean after the clearance so that it was in a suitable condition to put back on the market.
Clearance Overview
The only parking available outside of the block of flats was reserved for residents. However, one of the neighbours was kind enough to lend us their permit for the day so we were able to park reasonably close to the flat.
The potential problem with flat clearances is that there is a greater chance of disturbing the other residents of the building. However, our client had informed many of the residents in the preceding days that we would be operating in the building, and we always take great care to reduce any disturbance that we cause.
We worked quickly and carefully removing all of the clutter and items of furniture that had to be removed. The client asked us to leave the white goods in the kitchen because they were in good working order, but everything else had to be removed. He also asked us to remove the carpets because they were heavily stained and he wanted to replace them with new ones.
We removed the large items down the stairwell in teams of two or three, and as always safety was our maximum priority. In the end we finished the job at 5pm and the client returned to inspect the property.
Disposal of Contents
Many of the items were in a good enough condition to reuse, so we arranged for these to be sent to a selection of charity shops in the area. We even sent the TV stand and the DVD player to a nearby home for the elderly. Some of the items had to be recycled, including the cardboard, plastic and paper products that we found, but only a very small proportion of the items were sent to landfill
