Clearance Overview
We were instructed to clear this 3 bedroom semi in Harrow, as the owner was going to move to America. We were able to offset a good amount for the value of the mostly antique furniture in this case, as it had a good value. We are often requested to value house contents for probate, before carrying out a house clearance, and a probate valuation was necessary in this case.
Clearance Requirements
This was not a difficult clearance because the house was accessible through a wide staircase. With this in mind, we came fully prepared to empty the property with ease and fairly quickly. The furniture was carried down the stairs, and we then immediately packed it in our truck parked outside. After the house was cleared, we vacuum cleaned the carpets and left the property clear for resale. We are often requested to value house contents for probate so the contents were valued for Inheritance Tax purposes.
Disposal of Contents
We were able to resell most of the antiques through our retail outlet, and as a result, we were able to offset the cost of the clearance with the value of the items, and ensure that they did not go to landfill, or require recycling. Only a small part of the clearance, (paper, etc) was recycled, and nothing went to landfill.
