Clearance Requirements
This house clearance came about as the result of the company which owned the property reducing the size of their presence in the UK and selling the house, which had been used as a residence for employees from abroad on contracts. They now wished to sell the property and required us to clear and clean it and change the locks, prior to it being sold. The client requested also that we hoover the carpets and remove the washing machine, and to check for water leaks after doing so.
Clearance Overview
Hammersmith, as an inner city area, suffers from very bad traffic congestion, and parking is almost impossible without a resident’s permit. We arranged with Hammersmith Council for temporary permits, but to solve the traffic problem we decided to carry out the clearance on a Sunday. We arrived at 5.30 am to get an early start, and immediately started work, after putting dust sheets down to protect the carpets and plywood sheets in the hallway. We removed chairs, tables, desks, 3 beds, rugs, bedside cabinets, a flat screen television, wifi equipment, pots and pans, and general household goods. We then gave the whole house a good clean, and handed the keys over to our client’s estate agents who inspected the property.
Disposal of Contents
We were able to re-sell some of the contents as they were in good condition, and offset the cost against the clearance fees. The rest was sent to local charities who sold the items through their shops. In this case, everything was in good condition and nothing was sent to landfill or recycled.
