As many of our clients have never dealt with probate or used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline a previous house clearance in Hackney we carried out recently. This gives new clients some understanding of the clearance process and pricing. If you have any probate requirements or looking to clear a property in Hackney or surrounding areas then for free advice without obligation, you can call our London Office on 0208 640 0044.
We also carry out property valuation for probate and house contents valuation for probate purposes in the Hackney area.
CLEARANCE DATE: 16th June 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Horton Rd Hackney London E2
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full House Clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 2 bedroom top floor converted flat.
Clearance Requirements
This clearance was the result of an instruction by our client, a firm of solicitors, who were regular clients. They had been granted power of attorney over the affairs of their client, the former resident of the flat, and had decided to relocate their client to a residential care facility. As a result, the property needed to be sold, and we were asked to clear value the contents, transport the valuable items to a secure storage facility, and remove the residual contents. We were asked to leave the curtains, and to clean the carpets, if they were serviceable, or to remove them if not. We were also asked to thoroughly clean all rooms in the property.
Clearance Overview
We started work at 6 a.m. to avoid the traffic which can be extremely heavy in the area. We had arranged with Hackney Council to have two bays exclusively for our use, so parking was not a problem. We immediately started work, putting dust sheets down to protect the hallways and staircases, before removing all the furniture. We removed a bed, a sofa, two armchairs, a table and four chairs, and assorted other furniture and personal effects. Some of the furniture was too big to carry down the narrow staircase and had to be disassembled and reassembled outside. After we finished we cleaned the property as requested and found that the carpets were in good condition, so we left them as instructed.
Disposal of Contents
In this case, a lot of the furniture and goods were in fairly good condition, so we were able to offset their value against the clearance fees. A very small percentage of the contents were re-cycled. Our dedicated gardening team took care of the garden and disposed of the waste and much of it was placed in compost bins, although some of it was taken to the local council’s recycling centre and placed with the green waste material
Client Comments
The client inspected the property and said, “We can always rely on Avery Associates to do a thorough job, and this one was no exception. We will definitely give all our clearance work to Jeff and his team.”
