Clearance Requirements
Our instructions were to clear the house and garage at an address in Costons Rd Greenford Middlesex. The owner of the property was moving in to a retirement home, and the property was to be cleared so that it could be sold. We were also requested to thoroughly clean the property and clear the garage, which was completely full of assorted junk, accumulated during our client’s 50 years in residence in the property. The property was a little neglected as a result of illness, and the client requested that we also thoroughly clean the kitchen, bathroom and other rooms so as to assist with the sale.
Clearance Overview
The roads in Greenford are narrow, and it would have been very difficult to park our truck, but luckily the client had a private driveway and hard standing at the front, which made it easier. The neighbour also kindly agreed to let us use his forecourt for our second van. We arrived on site at 7.30 a.m and immediately started to clear the garage, which had vast quantities of old newspapers, broken furniture, two broken TV sets, old tyres, car parts, and general junk. Once that was clear, we started with the house itself, and removed the furniture and personal effects. We then cleaned the carpets and deep cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms. After we had finished, the house looked clean, neat and tidy. At 4p.m. we returned the keys to the client’s estate agent.
Disposal of Contents
Unfortunately, much of the contents was no good for re-use, but we were able to arrange for much of it to be recycled. The TV sets and electronic equipment were disposed of in accordance with the WEEE directive. The paper metals and glass were recycled at the local authority recycling site, and a very small amount of the proceeds of this clearance went to landfill
