Clearance Requirements

One of our regular firms of solicitors acting as executors, instructed us to completely clear the house and garden of a property located in Cranston Rd Forest Hill London SE23. The previous occupant had been unwell for a long time, and the property was in bad condition, with parts of it potentially hazardous, so we were requested to take extra care during the clearance. The garden had also become neglected and needed to be cleared, and tidied, and the overgrowth of plants, weeds and trees cut back. The kitchen and bathrooms required extra cleaning as well. Our instructions were to completely clear everything, including the carpets, and kitchen appliances and leave the property clear for renovation work by builders the next day.

Clearance Overview

We arrived on site at 6.30 a.m., and parked in the front of the property, using the wide driveway. We covered the floors with dust sheets to protect the entrance and narrow hallway, and then commenced to remove all the furniture and household effects from the property. We removed a lounge suite, bookcases, shelves, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and vast quantities of old newspapers and books. We also removed 2 beds, cupboards, chests of drawers, and old clothes. Much of the contents were heavily soiled, and in one part of the house damp had caused significant damage.

Disposal of Contents

Unfortunately, most of the contents were not re-usable, although we did manage to rescue a few tables and a bookcase, which we donated to a local charity. The rest was sent to our recycling centre.
