House Clearance in Dulwich: Case Study 1

As many of our clients have never used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline previous work we have conducted in the Dulwich area. Clearance Overview

We were requested to completely clear, clean and secure a 3 bedroom terraced property in Boxall Rd Dulwich London SE21. The property had been repossessed, and the previous occupants had left a large amount of household goods and furniture which our client, a high street bank, required us to remove. They also instructed us to change the locks, drain down the central heating, and isolate the water and electricity supply. We were asked to leave all gas appliances and the curtains, so that the property still looked occupied. We usually value house contents for probate prior to carrying out a property clearance, but in this case a probate valuation was not required.

Clearance Requirements

Dulwich is a leafy outer London suburb, and traffic and parking are not a problem. The house is situated near the A205, however, which is often very congested, so we started early, at 6 am, and immediately began to clear the property. We removed a lounge suite, beds, cupboards, chairs, tables, and a drinks cabinet and more. After the clearance, we cleaned the property thoroughly, secured the property and changed the locks. The keys were handed to the bank at 4p.m. Some of the goods we cleared were specifically requested by the client as they were required to return them to the former occupant, and these were separated and delivered to him separately. The rest we transported to our warehouse for processing.

Disposal of Contents

Most of the residue of contents were of little value, but we were able to donate them to a local charity shop. Most of the rest of the contents were recycled, and in this case, nothing at all went to landfill.

The bank’s representative, Mr Choudhury, said that he was delighted with our service and said he will add our name to the bank’s list of approved contractors.

Additional Information

We were told by a neighbour that the property we cleared was veryclose to the home of Phyllis Pearsall, who was the first person to compile the London A-Z, a publication carried in all our vans and an essential reference for all Londoners.
