Clearance Overview
We were instructed to completely clear the house, garden and garage of a large 5 bedroomed semi detached property in Anson Rd Cricklewood London NW2. The property had been continuously by a couple for the past 60 years, but, as a result of ill health, they had moved in to sheltered accommodation, and wanted their son and his family to live there. As they had their own furniture, they requested that we clear the property so that they could move in. The garage contained a 1964 Zephyr car which was in the process of being restored, and they requested that we remove this as well, and arrange for re-sale if possible. We usually value house contents for probate prior to carrying out a property clearance, but in this case a probate valuation was not required.
Clearance Requirements
We arrived at 6.30 on site, and parked in the front forecourt of the house. We immediately started to remove the furniture, some of which dated from the 1930’s, and was solid and heavy. We removed beds, chairs, bedside units, cupboards, tables, cabinets and assorted household effects. Finally, we removed the Zephyr car and placed it in storage at our recycling centre.
Disposal of Contents
We advised the client that art deco furniture from the 1930’s could have some market value, and that he should consider auctioning them. We assisted with this process, and the proceeds of sale meant that the cost of the clearance was significantly reduced for the client. We also assisted in the sale of the Zephyr car. Much of the rest of the contents were in very good condition and we arranged for disposal through local charities.

Additional Information
We found, hidden in an old trunk, every copy of Look and Learn Magazine from 1965 to 1975. The cartoon strip in this publication, the Trigan Empire, has a cult following on the internet, and we were able to arrange for an enthusiast to be given the entire collection. This helped to prevent the necessity to recycle them.
