Clearance Overview
We were requested by our client, a firm of solicitors, to clear the residual contents from a property in Chiswick Common Rd. They had recently obtained probate as executors, and had distributed the contents in accordance with the will. We had done the initial probate valuation, and had identified several items of considerable value, and had assisted in their auctioning. The remainder of the contents was mainly modern furniture, and assorted items of minimal value. The property was due to be sold, and we were requested to clear the remaining furniture and effects, clean and leave it neat and tidy ready for viewings by estate agents. We usually value house contents for probate prior to carrying out a property clearance, but in this case a probate valuation was not required.
Clearance Requirements
We arrived on site at 5 am, so as to avoid traffic. Parking in the area was residents only, but we were able to obtain a temporary permit. We immediately started work, removing chests of drawers, sofas, cupboards, beds and other general furnishings. We also removed the washing machine and checked that there were no leaks, and switched off the central heating and drained down the system to prevent damage. After a thorough clean, the property was ready and we handed the keys over at 3 p.m.
Disposal of Contents
The furniture was in good condition and we were able to arrange the disposal of most of it at local charity shops, some of which re-sell furniture.
