CLEARANCE DATE: 18 November 2011
PROPERTY LOCATION: Grosvenor Park, Camberwell, London SE5
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full House Clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 4-Bedroom-House
Clearance Overview
We were instructed by our client, a landlord, to clear the contents of a 4 bedroom house in Grosvenor Park, Camberwell London SE5. The property had previously been occupied as a house share, but the landlord now wished to sell the property, and so wanted all furniture and white goods in the kitchen removed. He also wanted us to clean the kitchen and bathroom, and hoover the carpets
Clearance Requirements
We arranged with Southwark Council to suspend tow parking bays for out trucks, and so, when we arrived at 7 a.m, we were able to park and get started straight away. We removed, beds, cupboards, tables, wall units and other furniture. As is usual with houses in multiple occupancy, the furniture was of poor quality and not in good condition. We cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and removed the white goods from the kitchen, ensuring that there were no leaks as a result of the disconnection of the washing machine. We then hoovered and left the property in good condition, ready for redecoration.
The curtains were left behind so as to give the property a lived in look, as the owner wanted to avoid the risk of squatting or illegal occupation. We often find that we are requested to carry out house clearance after we value house contents for probate, but in this case a property clearance was the only requirement.
Disposal of Contents
Most of the furniture was not re-saleable, but we were able to donate some of it to a homeless charity, and we also made use of the Freecycle website to give away some items. A small amount went to our recycling centre.
Client Comments
The client, Mr Katzinsky was ‘very impressed’ with our service and has assured us that he will use our house clearance service if any of his other properties required clearing.
Additional Information
On our way to the clearance we passed the Salvation Army’s William Booth Memorial Training College, and impressive building which is visible from all over south London, designed by Sir Gilbert Scott, who also designed Battersea Power Station. The original design was more ornate than the final building, but the design had to be scaled back because of budget cuts.
