Clearance Overview
We were called by the new owner of a property for this Brighton house clearance on Dyke Road who wanted to clear it before he rented it out to tenants. He wanted it cleared as quickly as possibly so that he could start arranging viewings. Although the property was in good condition, the furniture was old and worn, and he wanted us to remove everything that we found so that he could rent it out as an unfurnished property. We often find that we are requested to carry out house clearance after we value house contents for probate, but in this case a property clearance was the only requirement.
Clearance Requirements
The street outside the property became quite busy at certain times of the day, but we had to park our vehicles in the road. There was a possibility therefore of getting in the way of pedestrians and the transport, but we have experience of working in challenging situations so it did not prove to be a problem. We then set about removing the items quickly. We started with the largest items which included a sofa, four chairs, a chest of draws, three beds and a wooden cabinet. Some shelves were attached to the walls so we removed these as well, and then we set about clearing the smaller items.
Disposal of Contents
We have worked with a number of charities before in East Sussex so we separated the goods that we knew we could send to be reused. This included the chest of draws, the wooden cabinet and one of the beds which were all in good condition. However, the sofa and chairs were too old and tatty, and many of the items were simply not good enough to go to a charity. Those that could not be sent to charity were sent to our recycling centre, and the things that could not be recycled were sent to landfill, but fortunately this was only a small proportion of the total.
Client Comments
Mr Gales, the new owner of the property, was very happy with the speed that we worked. Indeed, our customers are often surprised the first time they hire us at just how quickly we can strip a house from top to bottom. He is also considering purchasing a number of properties later in the year and next year, so because we carried out a professional job there is a good chance that he will become a regular customer.
