Clearance Overview
Flats can often be tricky because there is less space available to remove objects, and there is more chance of getting in the way of other residents. This flat did not have a lift and there was only a thin stairwell, but we can work in any environment so this was not a problem. We are often requested to value house contents for probate, before carrying out a house clearance, but a probate valuation was not necessary in this case.
Clearance Requirements
The previous owners of the flat were elderly and ill, and the new owner wanted the place to be completely cleared in order to sell it at a later date. Because he was not going to find any new tenants for a number of months he also asked that we drain the central heating system and give the property a deep clean following the clearance.
Disposal of Contents
Most of the items were not fit for reselling or reusing, so we separated them into those that could be recycled and those that had to be sent to landfill. Luckily, the vast majority of the items could be recycled so we did not have to waste too much.
The neighbours had been warned in advance that we would be clearing the property that day, but we worked quickly and quietly anyway to reduce the amount of disturbance, and the clearance side of the job was completed in a couple of hours. The cleaning then took a further two hours.

The new owner was very pleased with the end result, especially the fact that we could turn off the central heating so that he did not have to worry about finding a tenant quickly and could now decorate the flat in his own time. He said that he would happily use us again for any clearance.
