CLEARANCE DATE: 3 March 2012
PROPERTY LOCATION: Du Cane Court, Balham, London SW12
CLEARANCE TYPE: Full flat clearance
PROPERTY TYPE: 2-bedroom flat, third floor
We were instructed by our client, the executors of the estate of the owner of the flat, to clear out the household contents, personal effects and residual content of the flat, to make it available for sale. We often find that we are requested to carry out house clearance after we value house contents for probate, but in this case a property clearance was the only requirement.
We were requested to clear the flat of all furnishings and personal belongings, leaving the white goods and kitchen fittings, and to clean the bathroom and kitchen and leave it clean and tidy for sale. Viewings were booked in for the day after we cleared the property.
Disposal of Contents
Apart from the usual household goods, there were a number of items of antique furniture, and we arranged for these to be taken into consideration and used to offset the cost of the house clearance. The rest of the goods were to be taken to a storage facility in Garratt Lane, Wandsworth, where they would be divided up amongst the relatives at a later date.
The client was particularly pleased with the way we cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, and with the way we were able to minimize disruption to neighboring flats.

Du Cane Court, Balham is one of the largest blocks of flats in Europe and is a south London icon. Built in the 1930’s, it was one of the most fashionable addresses in London, and boasted a cordon bleu restaurant for residents. It is reported that Luftwaffe pilots used it in order to check their positions while flying over London. Notable residents include Christine Keeler, of the Profumo Affair. The building is so large that the concierge provided us with a plan to enable us to find the flat!
