We have cleared out all types and size of properties in the past, but this clearance was a lot smaller. In fact, it was only the garage of a property that needed clearing. You may think that this is not a job for a clearance company, but there were a lot of items to clear and the owner did not have time to carry out the job himself. He wanted to clear the space so that he could convert it into a workshop.

Clearance Requirements

The main reason that the owner was unable to clear the property was because he did not have enough time. However, there was another reason: the contents of the garage included a number of potentially dangers chemicals including rat poison and pesticides, all of which had been sitting around for a long time so the owner was not certain how safe they were. Because we have a licence for handing hazardous waste, he called on us to get the job done for him safely.

Disposal of Contents

Due to the nature of the chemicals that we found, we had to be extremely careful when disposing of them. We have a strict process for disposing of hazardous waste so it was easy for us to clear the property, and it did not take longer than a couple of hours.

There were other items including old bikes, rusty tools and piles of newspapers, and we either sent these to our centre to be recycled or to landfill. None of the items were in good enough condition to be donated to charity.
