House Clearance in West Thurrock: Case Study 1

Clearance Requirements

Our client for this house clearance was a firm of solicitors who were acting as the executors for the owner of the property. The property was a terraced house with three bedrooms, and it had previously been let out to tenants for over a decade. The owner now wanted to sell the property, so we were asked to remove all of the residual contents and the furniture that remained, along with the white goods from the kitchen, but to leave the cooker. There was also a garden that was slightly overgrown so we were asked to mow the lawn and tidy it up to make it look presentable.

Clearance Overview

When we arrived there was on-street parking available, but there were some roadworks being carried out just outside the property so we had to park slightly further down the road. The doorway was very small, so to minimise the risk of damage occurring we lined the doorway and the entrance with wooden panels. We then set about clearing everything from the property, after which we tidied up the garden and placed all the garden waste in a compost bin. We finished removing the furniture and effects from the property and clearing the garden at 4.00pm, and we then gave the entire property a quick clean and vacuum to make it look presentable.

Disposal of Contents

The green waste from the garden was all put in a compost bin, and anything else we found in the garden and property that was not reusable was either recycled or sent to landfill, but fortunately this was only a very small amount. A few of the items of furniture were in surprisingly good condition seeing as they had been used by multiple tenants, and we arranged to donate the sofa, a desk and a chest of draws to a local charity shop.
