Clearance Requirements
We were called out by the owner of an office in a building on Wapping Lane in Wapping, London, E1. He had experienced some difficulties with the company that had inhabited the office previously, and now that it was all sorted out he wanted to clear all of the remaining furniture so that he could rent it out as an empty office once again.
Clearance Overview
The furniture inside the office mainly consisted of desks, bookshelves, filing cabinets and cupboards. Some of these were empty, but many of them still contained stationery, computer equipment, documents and files. We emptied out all of the desks, draws and cabinets and then removed all of the furniture from the building. We had to carry it down the stairs in the building to reach the van, but even with the larger cupboards and desks this was not a problem. We boxed up all of the books, stationery and other office items and loaded them into the van. We also collected together any computer equipment and kept this separate so that we could dispose of it with greater ease. We finished the clearance by giving the whole office a vacuum throughout to leave it looking fresh and clean, and we completed the job at 4.30pm.
Disposal of Contents
There was no point in throwing the furniture away because it was all in excellent condition. We therefore found new homes for everything, either through making donations to a local charity shop or by donating items through a selection of useful websites. We shredded all of the documents for security purposes, and the e-waste was disposed of properly at the local waste sorting facility.
