Clearance Requirements
Our client contacted us to request a complete clearance and deep clean of his four-bedroom flat on Belgrave Road in Knightsbridge, London, SW1. No one had lived in the flat for a number of years and there were many items of furniture and general household contents that now required clearing. He was hoping to rent the property so needed it to be left in perfect condition, and for that reason he also required a deep clean of the flat.
Clearance Overview
The building in which the flat was located overlooked Eccleston Square. Parking was available at the back of the building so we experienced no difficulties parking our vehicles near to the property. The flat was located on the third floor so there were a few steps to negotiate but nothing that our experienced team could not handle.
There were four bedrooms in the flat to clear, but only three of them had items inside as one of them had been cleared previously. Most of the items consisted of smaller general effects like clothes, books, files, stationery, folders and other similar items. However, there was a double bed in each room, and we had to carefully dismantle these before we could remove them and then reassemble them to put them in the van.
The kitchen had a number of things to remove, including a very old fridge that no longer functioned. We removed everything apart from the gas cooker and cleared the cabinets of all of the plates, bowls, pans and utensils they contained.
When the flat was completely empty we cleaned it throughout using our specialist equipment. At the end of the day the flat was in an excellent condition ready for letting out to tenants.
Disposal of Contents
We managed to find new homes for all of the furniture so that we did not have to discard anything. We divided the items up between a number of charitable organisations in the Knightsbridge area who could then sell them to raise funds. Some of the contents that we cleared had to be sent to our recycling centre, but this is preferable to sending anything to landfill. As always, for the sake of the client’s privacy we removed everything in our closed unmarked vans.

The client in this case was a firm of local solicitors, who were acting as executors, winding up the estate on behalf of the beneficiary, the son of the house owner. One of the partners inspected the property and was particularly impressed with the “excellent job” we had done with the garden.
