Clearance Overview
After a probate valuation in Bromley, our client requested that we clear the house which had belonged to his mother who died. He was the executor of her will. He commissioned us to completely clear the property, except the carpets and white goods in the kitchen so that he could move in to the property himself. He also asked us to cut the garden back and dispose of the garden waste. We often find that we are requested to carry out house clearance after we value house contents for probate, but in this case a property clearance was the only requirement.
Clearance Requirements
This was a small clearance consisting mainly of furniture with some personal effects including some clothes sheets bedding etc. We arrived at 8 am and quickly loaded our single truck with all the goods. As requested, we used a closed unmarked van so as to provide the client with complete privacy. In this case we were very fortunate to find a parking spot nearby, and were able to obtain a temporary parking permit from Bromley Council. The entire contents had been cleared by 1pm, and we hoovered and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom before handing the keys to the client.
Disposal of Contents
The client had lived in the house all her life and as a result had some furniture from the 1930’s which is a popular style at the moment so we were able to buy two pieces thus reducing the cost of the house clearance. Much of the rest of the furniture was of interest and we were able to offer the client good value also reducing the cost of the clearance.

The client said that he was ‘delighted’ that we had drawn his attention to the value of some of the contents and was very pleased with the comprehensive and value for money service we were able to provide.
Additional Information
We found a large box during the clearance full of theatre programs, for performances held at the local Churchill theatre. The theatre is a centre of culture in south London and it seems that the previous owner had been to at least one performance a month since the theatre was opened in 1977. The last performance she saw was the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
