We like to pause before we enter empty dwellings for the first time. So we can sense the people who lived there once, and what the spaces meant to them. Over the years they may have accumulated many precious possessions. We don’t clear houses, we recycle home content so its value lives on.
A Dear Old Lady at the End of Her Life
There comes a time when things must change. A women called us in need of a compassionate clearance of her aged parents’ home. Her mum and dad had lived there for 52 years, but the man had recently passed on.
‘My mum could not face the prospect of living alone among those shared memories,’ she explained. ‘We agreed it was best she moved into care, and receive ongoing treatment for her chronic condition.
‘We got a quote from a removal company that bid to clear the house. But they were so uncaring. It was as if they were saying we don’t clear houses, we throw everything in a skip for the council to take away. We were so pleased when we discovered Jeffrey Avery.’
We Cherish Things That Matter at Avery Associates
True value and responsible recycling are at the core of Avery Associates values. We are in business, but that’s no excuse not to act responsibly, we believe. As Jeffrey Avery likes to say, ‘we don’t just clear houses, we facilitate lifestyle changes.
1… We complete a detailed inventory, and discuss each item with our contact person.
2… Then we distribute items to new owners, auctioneers, and charitable beneficiaries.
3… We convey low value items and scrap to official recycling yards for processing.
4… After that we have the house cleaned, and the garden tidied to our own high standards.
5… We may on occasion use subcontractors. However we follow up personally to check.

We Don’t Clear Houses – We Recycle Homes with Care
Jeffrey Avery wandered through the house that day, inspecting things carefully as is his custom. He knows things common place years ago may have gained collector value since.
He has wide ranging experience in fine art, furniture, collectables, and has a particular interest in 20th century design. Jeffrey personally overseas all work carried out by his company. He also understands probate valuation for inheritance tax purposes later.
His personal assistant Pam Malinda followed him, taking photographs and making notes. They discovered a collection of old seventy-eight-speed gramophone records in mint covers. ‘If we find the old wind-up gramophone they could partly cover our bill,’ they agreed. And sure enough, they found it under a sheet at the back of the garage.

‘On first meeting Jeffrey we knew he was the man for the job. My father had recently passed, my mother was on end of life care in the Marsden so we really needed the compassionate touch. And Jeffrey and his team didn’t fail to deliver. Read Avery Associates reviews here
‘Our lives have been turned inside out in the space of six weeks with both parents, so with my emotions running high I needed a company with the personal touch. Whilst I thought it was a big job, the team put my mind at ease and dealt with all their belongings in a sensitive and caring manner.
‘Apologies for delay on feedback but just been busy with mum @ the Marsden. Thanks a million for your hard work and empathy on what was a very difficult day. You’re all amazing.’
