Windsor House Clearance – A Firemans Historic Collection

January 29, 2012 By Avery Associates

Earlier this year we carried out a house clearance in Windsor following the bereavement of an elderly gentleman. The Berkshire house clearance was for the son of the deceased. He showed me around the property, and after describing what was needed for the house clearance he pointed out various interesting items and a large collection of books relating to the London Fire Service and its history, there was also archived material on the subject dating back to the turn of the century, and in addition to this I viewed a wonderful assortment of London Fire Brigade Helmets in beautiful condition made from brass and highly polished.

The client’s father while alive had been one of the chief fire officers of the London Fire Brigade, a very well respected gentleman. We were instructed to clear the residual contents of the property very recently, and were aware that the majority of the contents had remained after the family division. Our team commenced work at 7am and began clearing the large quantity of books that remained along with many year’s worth of accumulated general household furniture and effects. The majority of the contents were recycled and a good amount went to a local charity.

The clearance was completed by 6pm, including all garden rubbish and contents of outhouses. Finally we cleaned the house from top to bottom, and as instructed posted the keys through the letterbox. Our client called us the following morning to say how satisfied he was with the work, and informed me that the fire brigade items and memorabilia had been donated to the London Fire Brigade museum, and its rightful place. All material removed from the property was transported away in our own closed in vehicles, recycled and sent to an appropriate waste handling facility. The job was slightly more involved than a typical Barnes house clearance but generally, the majority of our house clearances are completed in a day.

If you live in the Windsor or surrounding area and you require the services of a house clearance company, don’t hesitate to contact us on 0800 567 7769 for a competitive quote.

Our House Clearance Services

We provide a full house clearance and property management solution:

  • We clear hoarded houses, regardless how big or how cluttered
  • We clear all types and sizes of property, irrespective of location, or access is restricted or where parking is difficult or not available.
  • We can help avoid water damage by draining the central heating system.
  • We can secure the property and change the locks.
  • We can reinstate the gardens and maintain them whilst the property is empty.
  • We can provide 24 hour security to eliminate the risk of squatting or unlawful occupation.

As well normal house clearances we specialise in clutter clearance and we can clear a hoarded house which may contain years of accumulated possessions, or which have abnormal amounts of general household items, sometimes as a result of compulsive hoarding syndrome.

Equally we can help to clear a property where the occupants were previously unwell and unable to care for themselves or their property which sometimes results in insanitary, dangerous or just plain unpleasant conditions.
