Using A Clearance Company For Compulsive Hoarding Problems

November 11, 2011 By Avery Associates

As a London house clearance company we see that one of the most serious problems when it comes to house clearances is when the property has experienced a problem with compulsive hoarding.

Property owners who have to deal with a hoarding issue will know just how serious it can be, and they will also know how important it is to find a company specialising in this type of clearance. What is Compulsive Hoarding? Compulsive hoarding can be related to OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) or ICD (Impulse Control Disorder), and can be very extreme in some cases. It can lead to huge amounts of contents building up inside a property even when they are not worth anything, and this can lead to numerous safety and hygiene issues.

So How do You Find a Company to Deal with This? When you are looking for a hoarding specialist, always look for a company with lots of experience. Whatever the company says, it needs to prove that it has done clearances of this nature before. Clearing a property with a hoarding problem requires special experience and resources and if a company has not done this before then you should be careful about hiring them. Ask lots of questions as well. A hoarding specialist will be able to answer any questions which you have, and their answers will show you how much experience they have. Ask them how they deal with valuable objects, how they would take precautions where animal hoarding is an issue, how they deal with hazardous materials and what processes they have in place. Ask the company about previous jobs they have been on. Although privacy should be maintained, they should be able to provide you with examples of previous jobs that they have done in terms of what they encountered, how they dealt with the problem and the challenges that were faced to give you a good idea if they know what they are talking about.

We Are Hoarding Experts We have extensive experience when it comes to clearing properties which have a problem with hoarding. No matter you location, we can provide this service and when you hire us we can provide a full service using our expertise to get the job done properly and safely. We have experience of handling dangerous objects and substances, animal hoarding and dealing with valuable objects in a hoarding environment. As well normal house clearances we specialise in clutter clearance and we can clear a hoarded house which may contain years of accumulated possessions, or which have abnormal amounts of general household items, sometimes as a result of compulsive hoarding syndrome.

Equally we can help to clear a property where the occupants were previously unwell and unable to care for themselves or their property which sometimes results in insanitary, dangerous or just plain unpleasant conditions.
