In a recent probate valuation in Windsor, Berkshire one of our probate valuers discovers a rare Rex Chair by Niko Kralj.
Avery Associates are regularly instructed to carry out probate valuation in Berkshire and it was during the inspection of the chattels the Windsor property that the rare Rex chair was discovered. We have also carried out probate valuation in Bray, Cookham, Cox Green, Horton and Datchet, but it was during the probate vauation of house contents in Windsor that the design chair was found.
The REX folding chair, designed in 1952 by Slovenian designer Niko Kralj was a way to bring good design to the masses, the REX chair turned out to be a great success and is still being produced and enjoyed around the world.
Other interesting items of 1950,s furniture turned up all over the property and were valued accordingly. Furniture and accessories from the fifties have become very popular now and prices have risen of late, so to the untrained eye this type of furniture could easily be considered to be very low value and out of fashion.
The remainder of the contents were general and of a modest value so the total valuation was less than £2000 and with the estate subject to IHT this meant an added tax liability of £800. Our RICS probate valuation will ensure that the chattels are not under or overvalued.
