Even a hoarded house will have house contents that need to be valued so we cant just assume because the house is cluttered and needs a serious “hoarder house clearance” the items within have no value. On the contrary more often than not we find quite valuable things in a hoarded house.

Abandoned Vehicles Often A Result Of Hoarding
Over the last 20 years we have found all sorts of vehicles at properties, sometimes hidden away in a barn or a garage and completely forgotten, and of course modern roadworthy cars that have been in regular use. But they all have to valued for probate purposes and taxable. Sometimes the vehicles are quite valuable even if they are buried in the garden under years of overgrown trees and undergrowth. Its amazing what we have found as you can see in the pictures, check out the Harley Davidson Sportster and the Austin A35 “actually the car I learnt to drive in thats how old I am haha”.
Even Old Jukeboxes Are Still Hidden Away
Now take a look at this lovely NSM City Jukebox we found tucked away in the garage during the house clearance of a property in Highgate. I valued it for probate and actually its quite valuable complete with a large collection of vinyl 45’s also valued for probate. The family kept this lovely item but we are able to auction special items like these if required. Are you old enough to remember putting your coin in the slot of a jukebox in the local pub and listening to Elton or The Supremes? those were the days.
Extreme Property Deterioration After Hording & Neglect
The next images are rather shocking of a property we cleared and made safe recently, where the entire bathroom floor collapsed into the kitchen after the water had been leaking for over 20 years. This job required us to isolate the electricity supply, cap off water and gas services. We then dropped the bathroom suite down and made the floors safe. If you look at thge picture carefully you can see the water spraying upwards near the hand basin.
Newspaper Hoarding Is Very Common
Here you can see evidence of newspaper hoarding and even after having cleared a path to the stairs there is still alot of paper stacked and to be removed. The staircase is partly collapsed here and we had to shore it up so that we could access the bathroom to do remedial work. All other rooms in the property were waist high with paper and abandoned items all needing clearance.
Vintage Motorbikes Stashed Away In The Garden Shed
On this job and after 2 days of clearing the interior of a very hoarded house in East Ham, London we unearthed a converted BSA Bantam Ex Post Office bike into a racer, see all the spare parts and frames from BSA and other old vintage bikes, We found a home for all of this but not for the bottle of Sulphuric Acid on the shelf in the shed which we had safely taken away by a specialist hazardous chemical removal contractor.
Exciting Garage Finds
This was one the highlights of last year for me when after clearing one of a pair of derelict garages in Wolverton we were amazed when gaining entry to the second we this lovely vintage motor car. A real gem and as you can see from the following pictures we have found all sorts of lovely vehicles, even a Porsche Carrera.
