Clearance Overview
For this job we were asked to carry out a large house clearance for a new owner who had purchased the property at an auction. The house was detached, had four bedrooms and was in reasonably good condition apart from the items which needed to be removed. It was also structurally sound and there were no particular safety issues. We often find that we are requested to carry out house clearance after we value house contents for probate, but in this case a property clearance was the only requirement.
Clearance Requirements
The only requirement for this job was to clear every room in the house so that it was completely empty. The owner did not want us to remove any large items that still worked, such as the washing machine, but if any were found to be in a state of disrepair then he also wanted them to go. The only specific requirement for the contents was that we send as many items as possible to be recycled.
Disposal of Contents
We could not recycle everything in the property because for some of the items this was simply impossible. However, we recycled anything that we could find where recycling was an option, and in the end only about 5% of the items were sent for waste which is a good figure because we always try to limit waste to 10% or less.
