Clearance Overview
This large house had been left abandoned for a number of years without occupancy as the client had lived overseas and still had the majority of its furniture and effects still inside . Surprisingly during all that time there had been no attempt of squatting. The new owner needed it cleared and cleaned so as he intended to carry out modernisation then live in it with his family. The house was close to road without a driveway and access was not great but it was still possible to park our vehicles in the street without causing any disruption to the passing traffic.
Clearance Requirements
The house was rather neglected and there was furniture and effects throughout. It was damp and mould was becoming a problem in some areas, even apparent on the furniture itself. The majority of the furniture was too far gone to re-use and there were many smaller items like clothing, lamps, blankets and food waste also unusable. We were asked to clear the whole house and then provide a deep clean. The job took a whole day, including clearing all contents and carrying out a full clean and vacuum. The property looked quite presentable at the end so we were pleased a the end result.
Disposal of Contents
Unfortunately the majority of the contents had to be discarded as waste. This is not normally the case because we rarely have to send over 5% of the contents to landfill in most house clearances. However, the property was in a very bad condition so this was an exception. Some of the contents could be recycled, including the plastic bags and cardboard boxes, but nothing was in a fit state to be reused.
