House Clearance in Westminster: Case Study 1

As many of our clients have never dealt with probate or used a house clearance company before, we found that it was helpful to outline a previous house clearance in Westminster we carried out recently. This gives new clients some understanding of the clearance process and pricing. If you have any probate requirements or looking to have a house clearance in Westminster or surrounding areas then for free advice without obligation, you can call our valuers London Office on 0208 640 0044.

We also carry out property valuation for probate and house contents valuation for probate purposes in the Westminster area.

CLEARANCE DATE: 5th November 2012

PROPERTY LOCATION: Palace Street, Westminster, London, SW1

CLEARANCE TYPE: Full flat clearance

PROPERTY TYPE: 3-bedroom flat

Clearance Requirements

This clearance involved a flat on the second floor of a building on Palace Street in Westminster. The owner of the flat had inherited it from her mother, and had hired a firm of solicitors to arrange the clearance and sale. We had actually worked with this firm of solicitors on a previous clearance and they had been impressed with our work so had decided to call us again. They also asked us to clean the flat following the clearance.

Clearance Overview

After we had parked the vans outside the building we made sure that we protected the front doorway and the area just outside in the communal area so that we did not cause any damage. One of the requirements was that we worked as carefully and quietly as possible within reason because the building was inhabited by many other people, but this was fine because we are always especially careful in buildings that contain other flats. The owner had clearly removed a number of the things from inside the flat, but there were still lots of goods and items of furniture to remove. We worked through the entire flat, and did not come across any particular difficulties, so we managed to complete the clearance fairly early. We then cleaned the entire flat to leave it sparkling clean and ready to be placed on the market.

Disposal of Contents

There was some very expensive-looking furniture in the flat that we managed to sell, but other than that we donated the reusable items to two charities and sent the rest of the goods to be recycled. As always, we removed everything from the property in closed unmarked vans for the privacy of the owner.

Client Comments

The solicitor in charge of the clearance checked over the property following the clearance and confirmed that we had done another top job. He also said he looked forward to working with us again on future clearances.
