Clearance Requirements
Our client was the landlord of this second-floor flat on Webber Street, which is located in Southwark, SE1. After letting it out for a number of years, he had decided to move into the flat himself, and as such he wanted it cleared and cleaned beforehand. The only items that he did not want to remove were the bed frames and the gas cooker.
Clearance Overview
There was only limited parking available outside the flat, but it proved to be enough for our vans. We met the client outside the building, and he showed us quickly around the flat. We then started work and made quick progress as we moved through the living room, kitchen and bedrooms. By lunchtime we had already cleared most of the larger items of furniture. We thought that we may experience some difficulties with the large glass display cabinet in the living room, but we carried it down the stairs very carefully and loaded it into the van with no problem. Apart from the furniture, there was lots of general household clutter and small personal effects that we boxed up to carry down the stairs. In the end we were able to finish the clearance ahead of schedule at 4.00pm.
Disposal of Contents
Any contents that were in a condition to be reused were sent to a local charity and a local youth centre. Anything that they did not want we managed to find new homes for via a useful website on the internet. Some of the contents had to be discarded, but we were able to recycle most of this instead of sending it to landfill to reduce waste further.
