CLEARANCE DATE: 8th June 2012

PROPERTY LOCATION: Tidmarsh Road, Pangbourne, Berkshire, RG8

CLEARANCE TYPE: Full house clearance

PROPERTY TYPE: 3-bedroom semi-detached house

Clearance Overview

This house clearance on Tidmarsh Road, Pangbourne, RG8 involved clearing a semi-detached property which had off-street parking, which was fortunate because it was a busy street. This clearance was interesting because there were a number of items of antique furniture inside the house. The solicitors who hired us on behalf of their client said that if we wanted to sell these and could we use them to offset the cost of the clearance, and if not then we could just leave them inside the house. Everything else was to go, right down to the carpets. There were some loose tiles in the bathroom to be removed, as well as a few broken cabinets in the bathroom and kitchen. Essentially, if it was not firmly attached then it had to be removed.

Clearance Requirements

We turned up at 8 a.m. and performed an initial review of the property. We could not see any particular problems, so we started clearing the furniture and effects straight away. The representative from the solicitors came around at midday and we told him that we would be taking most of the antique items of furniture to offset the value, but there were a few that were not worth much and he asked us to find them a good home or give them to charity. There was a very large chest of draws in one of the bedrooms dating from the mid 19th century that was extremely heavy and difficult to move. But apart from that there were no particularly problems removing the remaining furniture. The fridge, freezer and washing machine were all taken out of the kitchen, and although there was no deep clean required, we gave the property a quick clean at the end to leave it in good order.

Disposal of Contents

There were a number of books inside the property, some of which were very old, but all in good condition. These were ideal for donating so we sent them to a nearby Oxfam bookshop.
We took away the antique furniture to be sold, and everything was removed in closed unmarked vans for the owner’s privacy as requested. Some house clearance furniture had to be sent to landfill, but the majority that we could not sell or reuse was recycled.

Client Comments

The solicitor, a regular client, came back at the end of the day and gave us the all clear. He then called us two weeks later to organise another house clearance in the Pangbourne area
